I wanted so to take your pain
And leave it all behind...
To be your strength when you were weak.
To place your hand in mine.

To lift you up when you were down,
To comfort you each day...
But as I watched you fight to live,
I knew you could not stay.

Still, your memory shines so bright,
Your love lives on in me...
Your spirit soars the highest heights,
Your soul is finally free.

I don't know how to say goodbye,
To someone I've loved so...
My dearest father and my friend,
It hurts to let you go.

My knight in shining armor,
That's what you are to me...
I'll not forget the many times
You gave so graciously.

I know we'll meet again one day,
Where pain no more shall be...
Where dads and daughters reunite,
Forever, you and me.

(My dad passed on in 1991 from complications of cancer. A large piece of my heart went with him. He was - and always will be -  my special hero.)

Rock-a-Bye, Sweet Angel...

Shelter her, Dear Lord, I pray,
and keep her in Your care...
show her heavens beauty,
as laughter fills the air.

Give her all my love to keep,
and sing her lullabies...
Rock-a-bye, sweet angel,
sleep well in heavens skies.

May the love of God enfold you,
as He cradles you tonight...
while cherubs dance by softly,
with their halos glowing bright.

Rock-a-bye, sweet angel,
too precious for this place...
you were here for just a moment,
but your memory I embrace.

(In loving memory of my infant daughter)

"Some people only dream of angels...I held one in my arms."

If I could have one lifetime wish,
One dream that would come true...
I would pray to God with all my heart
For yesterday and you.

(My best friend throughout childhood died of an accidental shooting when she was 16 years old. We grew up together and we were closer than most sisters are. If it were possible for me to spend just one more day with someone, I'd choose to spend it with her.)

Remembering You, Diane

Your time on earth seemed all too brief
because I wanted you in my life forever.
And although I really miss you,
in my heart I know that you are at peace.
Still, countless times throughout the day
I find myself remembering you.
I know that you are with me.
I'll feel you in the warmth of the summer sun.
I'll see you in the brilliance of autumn leaves.
You'll be beside me in the peacefulness of a gentle snowfall
and rejoice with me in the emergence
of the first flowers of spring.
I'm thankful for the times we shared
and the priceless memories too;
for those memories are a comfort now when I lovingly -
Remember You.

(My dear friend, Diane, passed away in 1993 of a stroke.)

For Donnie ~

Some people come into our lives and quickly go.
Some stay for awhile
And leave footprints on our hearts
And we are never, ever the same.
****
You left footprints, little brother,
and your passing left a hole in my heart.
I will always love you.

Goodbye, Old Friend...

Looking back on days gone by,
I think of my dear friend,
and how the days just slipped away...
we thought they'd never end.

Yet the time has come to say goodbye,
for just a little while...
and in the days and weeks ahead,
I'll think of her and smile.

Thank You, God, for times we shared,
for all the memories...
the endless laughs and heartfelt tears
forevermore to cease.

Yet in my heart I feel at peace,
just knowing she's with You...
as morning came, she saw Your face,
and her suffering was through.

You called her Home to be with You,
releasing her from pain...
just tell my friend that in a while,
I'll be seeing her again.

(In rememberance of Pauline, my best friend for much of my adult life. She passed away in 1995 of Lateral Sclerosis, otherwise known as Lou Gehrig's Disease and I still miss her so very much.)
She was truly the wind beneath my wings.

For you, G.C. ~

Sorry I never told you
All I wanted to say
And now it's too late to hold you
'Cause you've flown away
So far away ......
And I know you're shining down on
me from Heaven
Like so many friends we've lost along
the way
And I know eventually we'll be
together
One sweet day ......
And all that I know is that I'll wait
Patiently to see you in Heaven

But lay up for yourselves treasures in Heaven,
where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt,
and where thieves do not break through nor steal;
For where your treasure is, there will be your heart, also.
Matthew 6:20,21
